Photo: SALLY KIDSON Agroup of organisations that help people in the Nelson region to be more active and have more fun is continuing with a new Nelson hub. Way2Go Nelson is made up of four organisations that work in different parts of the community to provide different activities to help people try new activities or get active. There was previously a Nel- son Tasman hub, but a change in funding has seen Nelson operate as a cluster independently of Tasman. Each of the groups, The Truck, Sport Tasman, Tahunanui Community Centre and the Victory Community Centre deliver physical activities for communities and help remove barriers for people to do exercise. The Truck is a mobile ser- vice based from a truck that is predominately aimed at youth. Sport Tasman offers a variety of classes through Way2Go including Tai Chi, Tumbeltots, cycling, badmin- ton and walking groups. The Victory Community Centre also offered different activities including yoga and pilates. Gareth Cashin of the Victory Community Centre said the groups worked separ- ately but with the same aim. Tony Naylor of Sport Tasman said the activities involved a lot of volunteers so it brought people together in the community. For more information on the programmes provided visit the different sites of the groups: thetruck.co.nz; tahun anui.org; sporttasman.org.nz; and https://sites.google.com/ site/victorycommunitycentre/.
