34 THE NELSON LEADER, AUGUST 22, 2013 SPORT Hard-fought but Nelson falls short Oh so close . . . Nelson College's huge commitment was not quite enough to bring home the Press Cup, symbol of South Island rugby supremacy. Marlborough Boys' College won the game 15-11 in difficult conditions at Landsdowne Park, Blenheim on Saturday. Nelson tackled their hearts out and pushed Marlborough's defensive lines until the end, finally scoring their only try to Reece Fuller a couple of minutes from the final whistle. But Marlborough with two tries had done enough and won the trophy for the first time after two previous finals attempts. Fighting fit: Nelson College perform their haka before the game.
