Neudorf Dairy was named the Creamiest Food Producer From the Dairy in the recent national awards for their sheep cheese. Judges said Neudorf's cheeses were an outstanding selection of some of the best dairy products in NZ'' and they would put any Euro- pean cheeses to the test''. Posh Puffs Gourmet Marshmal- lows, run by Nelson sisters Sarah Gibbs and Clare Fleming, won a highly commended award for its lemon and manuka honey marsh- mallow. That recognition was in the From the Kitchen Bench category which saw it compete against all the jams, chutneys, preserves, cakes and other delights made at the kitchen bench. Both Neudorf and Posh Puffs sell their goods at the Nelson Farmers' Market which runs on Wednesdays from 11am to 4pm at Fashion Island. Manager Amme Hisler said it was fantastic that two Nelson businesses had been recognised at the awards. Sarah of Posh Puffs said the com- mendation was great, but next year they were aiming to win the award. We are really chuffed -- this was only our second time entering,'' Sarah said. She said the lemon and manuka product used Nelson lemons and manuka honey from Enzbee which was also sold at the Nelson Farmers' Market. It was a real Nelson flavour and a good one for winter. It's practically a healthfood,'' she said. Posh Puffs tailored its flavours to use seasonal produce and its other flavours included berry marshmal- lows in summer and even a pumpkin-flavoured puff in winter. Neudorf Dairy sales and market- ing manager Cynthia Greep said the business had won a lot of medals and awards, but it was the first time it had won at the Farmers' Markets Awards. She said the business was a real team effort and it was nice for the team to get that recognition. That's what we are really proud of,'' Cynthia said. The Farmers Markets Awards were becoming better known to the New Zealand public, she said.
