Photo: COLIN SMITH Heading for Te Matatini By MATT LAWREY Anyone keen for a fix of kapa haka will want to be at Nelson College's gym in Franklyn St this Saturday. Te Whatukura Kapa Haka Club's senior group is holding a dress rehearsal ahead of its appearance at Te Matatini, the national contest, being held in Rotorua from February 19 to 24. The performing group of 36 has been working on its routine for four months and club chair- man Sonny Alesana said it cele- brated life in Nelson and the region's landmarks, along with stories of the members' ances- tors. It's a really dynamic perform- ance,'' he said. Sonny said the routine was totally different'' from anything people might have seen when the group performed at the Trafalgar Street Market Day last Saturday. It's all new material,'' he said. The dress rehearsal starts at noon. Adults $5, students gold coin. Funds raised will go towards the group's travel costs.
