' Louise Allan Art Expo Nelson event manager Artistic types of all ages are being offered the chance to come up with a wine label and win $1000. As part of this year s Art Expo Nelson, organisers have teamed up with Fresh Choice Nelson City owners Mark and Veronica A Court to launch the Fresh Choice Nelson City Folks Art Award. The winner will be who- ever comes up with the artwork that gets the most votes from members of the public. Mark said they needed a new label for their Grocer s Choice range of wines and thought ask- ing the public to come up with one seemed like a good idea. I imagine it ll stay on the bot- tles for nearly a year and we ll do it again next year, he said. In addition to the $1000, if the winner is 18 or older, they will also receive a carton of Grocer s Choice wine featuring their label. The winning label will go on at least 500 bottles and the award is open to anyone living in the South Island. Five final- ists will be selected and the artworks will be displayed at Fresh Choice Nelson City where the public will vote for the win- ner. The winning label will then be unveiled at the opening of Art Expo Nelson 2013 at the Trafal- gar Centre on July 11. Art Expo Nelson event man- ager Louise Allan hopes the con- test attracts entries from all sorts of people. They don t have to be an art- ist. Anyone can have a go, she said. Applications close April 30. To enter or find out more, visit artexponelson.co.nz Art Expo Nelson is supported by the Nelson City Council events marketing development strategy fund.
