Entries are limited to 200 vehicles, and committee member Ian Jones said the event has attracted cars from as far as Invercargill, Auckland and Tauranga. Ian has a hot orange replica 1932 Roadster, which he has had on the road since 2008. He built up the car from a 1932 Ford Sedan chassis he bought decades earlier. The vehicle is powered by a guttural 350 chevy edelbrock motor. The electrician has a couple of other vehicles including a 1946 Ford Sedan. He also has a couple more projects on the go. He has been pottering with hot rods for decades. ‘‘It’s a hobby, if you make it a job – if you put yourself under time restraints it doesn’t become a hobby.’’ He likes the hot rods because of their looks and the nostalgia they create. ‘‘It’s the style of car they were on the road . . . the kids of the Nelson Area Tide Watch Nelson Tarakohe Motueka Mapua Croisilles French Pass m AM 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 H 12:00am 12:19pm L 5:58am 6:14pm H 12:02am 12:20pm L 6:07am 6:23pm H 12:05am 12:24pm L 6:17am 6:33pm H 12:21am 12:42pm L 6:17am 6:37pm H 12:01pm L 5:56am 6:12pm H 11:46am L 5:26am 5:42pm NOON Nelson Tarakohe Motueka Mapua Croisilles French Pass 6 PM AM 6 H 12:34am 12:51pm L 6:28am 6:47pm H 12:35am 12:51pm L 6:37am 6:57pm H 12:39am 12:56pm L 6:47am 7:06pm H 12:55am 1:15pm L 6:47am 7:09pm H 12:16am 12:33pm L 6:26am 6:45pm H 12:01am 12:18pm L 5:56am 6:15pm NOON Nelson Tarakohe Motueka Mapua Croisilles French Pass 6 PM AM 6 H 1:08am 1:23pm L 6:57am 7:21pm H 1:08am 1:22pm L 7:08am 7:31pm H 1:13am 1:28pm L 7:16am 7:40pm H 1:29am 1:46pm L 7:18am 7:42pm H 12:50am 1:05pm L 6:55am 7:19pm H 12:35am 12:50pm L 6:25am 6:49pm NOON Nelson Tarakohe Motueka Mapua Croisilles French Pass 6 PM AM 6 H 1:41am 1:56pm L 7:29am 7:56pm H 1:42am 1:54pm L 7:39am 8:07pm H 1:46am 2:01pm L 7:48am 8:15pm H 2:01am 2:17pm L 7:51am 8:17pm H 1:23am 1:38pm L 7:27am 7:54pm H 1:08am 1:23pm L 6:57am 7:24pm NOON Nelson Tarakohe Motueka Mapua Croisilles French Pass 6 PM AM 6 H 2:16am 2:33pm L 8:03am 8:35pm H 2:16am 2:30pm L 8:13am 8:45pm H 2:21am 2:38pm L 8:22am 8:54pm H 2:32am 2:49pm L 8:26am 8:56pm H 1:58am 2:15pm L 8:01am 8:33pm H 1:43am 2:00pm L 7:31am 8:03pm NOON 6 Nelson Tarakohe Motueka Mapua Croisilles French Pass PM AM 6 H 2:52am 3:14pm L 8:42am 9:19pm H 2:52am 3:11pm L 8:51am 9:28pm H 2:57am 3:19pm L 9:01am 9:38pm H 3:05am 3:25pm L 9:04am 9:39pm H 2:34am 2:56pm L 8:40am 9:17pm H 2:19am 2:41pm L 8:10am 8:47pm NOON Nelson Tarakohe Motueka Mapua Croisilles French Pass 6 PM AM 6 Jimmy Pugh gives directions.
